The entry list for the first race has 13 drivers, some of them young and others with proven experience.• The Toyota GR86 Circuit Pack of the GR Cup Spain will be protagonist on the national circuits in 2024.
This weekend (May 11 and 12) the first event of the GR Cup Spain will take place, which is the new commitment of Toyota Spain and Motor & Sport Institute (MSi) for the promotional cups. This time, on national circuits, after the success of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup in rallies.
The starting lineup for this first event will feature 13 drivers, including both promising young drivers who have opted for this single-brand cup to continue advancing in their careers, as well as drivers with an important track record, who have found in the GR Cup Spain an excellent opportunity to remain connected to the world of competition.
The GR Cup Spain calendar consists of five weekends, spread throughout the Spanish geography. The format of each race will be similar, including two free practice sessions, two timed practice sessions and two races, each lasting 25 minutes plus one lap.
The car used for this single-brand cup is the Toyota GR86 Circuit Pack, with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 234 hp atmospheric engine. A model that has been developed entirely in MSi's facilities and adapted for the competition.
In addition to the trophies to be awarded at each event and at the end of the season, the Toyota Spain and MSi single-brand cup has, as one of its main incentives, a substantial cash prize of over 100,000 euros. The winner of the competition will also have the chance to drive a TCR car in a race in 2025. Furthermore, there will be special prizes for the best female driver and the best junior driver.
Alejandro Cachón, Toyota Spain's official S-CER driver, who recently won the Rallye de Islas Canarias and who is the current leader of the championship, will participate as a guest.
For the eagerly awaited premiere of the GR86 Circuit Pack, a large number of spectators is expected, given the large number of categories participating in the Circuito del Jarama, a 3.85 kilometers long track.
