The entry list for this event is made up by 13 drivers, featuring some outstanding innovations amongst the participants.
This weekend (July 27th and 28th) the second event of the season of the GR Cup Spain, the new bet of Toyota Spain and Motor & Sport Institute (MSi) for the promotional cups, will be held at the track of MotorLand Aragon. The single-brand cup with the GR86 Circuit Pack was one of the great novelties of the national motorsport scene last May, at the Jarama racetrack.
The starting grid for this second event will be made up of 13 drivers. Once again, the talent of young drivers will be joined on the track with the expertise of other leading names in motor racing. In this list of registered drivers, Iván Riera, the young Asturian driver who will debut his GR86 Circuit Pack in the Aragonese circuit, as well as Miguel Villacieros and Agustín Arce, are the new additions to the competition.
Moreover, the official driver of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Spain team and leader of the Spanish Rally Superchampionship, Alejandro Cachón, was present at the inaugural event, and in Alcañiz it will be Sergi Francolí who will participate as a guest driver. Francolí is also a rally driver and was the overall winner of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup 2022.
The rest of the list of entrants is made up of those who already participated in the opening event and who made two exciting races, in which equality prevailed between the GR86 Circuit Pack. Proof of this is that the podiums were different in the two races, and left as championship leader Adrian Ferrer (50 points), followed by Marcos de Diego (42 points) and Antonio Albacete (38 points). It should be noted that these drivers were eligible for the significant monetary prizes that are awarded at the end of the weekend in the Toyota Spain and MSi single-brand cup.
On Saturday the action will begin with free training, timed practices and the first race. On Sunday, with timed practice 2 and race 2, the second meeting of the GR Cup Spain will conclude.
The car with which this single-brand cup is contested is the Toyota GR86 Circuit Pack, with an atmospheric engine of 2.4 liters, 4 cylinders and 234 hp. A model that has been developed entirely in MSi facilities and adapted to the competition.
