The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Spain and Teo Martín Motorsport pair are 4 points ahead of their immediate rivals.
The Rallye de Ourense, which takes place this weekend (14 and 15 June), is the fourth scoring event of the season in the Spanish Rally Superchampionship (S-CER).
After the beautiful fight that took place in the Rallye Islas Canarias, a race in which Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada got their first victory in the S-CER, the Toyota Spain couple hopes to repeat the success and add a new podium to their podium, which will allow them to increase the difference with respect to their immediate pursuers.
Alejando Cachón has currently accumulated 100 points, while José Antonio Suárez and Diego Ruiloba are tied on 96 points. The win in the Canary Islands crowned a great start of the season for Toyota Spain's Asturian driver, who had already scored two podiums: the first one, in the Lorca Rallye, on gravel, and the second one, in the Sierra Morena Rallye, on tarmac. These results demonstrate the potential of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 on any surface.
To prepare for this new event, the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Spain and Teo Martín Motorsport team carried out a heavy day of testings in Galicia, with the aim of adapting the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 to the characteristic tarmac sections of the area, which are far from those of the Canary Islands.
As has been the case throughout the season, the weather may have a significant influence on the outcome of the event. The 57th Rallye de Ourense will feature fourteen sections, divided into two stages, for a total of 159.48 timed kilometers. The longest special stage will be Castrelo de Miño, with 15.63 km.
Fans, who are expected to flock to the Galician event, will be able to enjoy the spectacular Rally2 from Thursday night, when the official start will take place in Ourense. It will be the preamble to the qualifying stage, which will be held on Friday, just before the start of the competition, at 16:30 on the same day, with the first timed stage.
Alejandro Cachón (PILOT): “We are very happy with how the test day has gone, as the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 has allowed us to go at a very good pace from the beginning. In addition, we have tried different configurations and all of them have worked very well, so I am optimistic for this Rallye de Ourense, where I hope to be again fighting for the victory''.
Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “I'm looking forward to being back in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, after the win in the Canary Islands. We are motivated now in Ourense and we will do our best to bring home another victory''.
