The driver and co-driver of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Spain team and Teo Martín Motorsport rely on themselves to become Spanish Champions.
The Rally Pozoblanco Rallye (15 and 16 November) is the last qualifying round of the Spanish Rally Superchampionship (S-CER), of the nine on the calendar. This race will be decisive for the title, following a season in which equality amongst the drivers has been at its maximum.
So far, Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada have been the most consistent throughout the year, ending all rallies on the podium and obtaining three wins (Rallye Islas Canarias, Rallye Princesa de Asturias and RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada). In turn, the duo of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Spain and Teo Martin Motorsport team have been the fastest during the season, winning 39 timed stages of the 88 they have participated in. This is proof of the competitiveness of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 on any surface and under any circumstances. Alejandro Cachón has also been the driver who has won the TC plus (with extra points for the championship) most times, on five occasions.
Before the last meeting in Pozoblanco, the Asturian driver is 26 points ahead of Diego Ruiloba, the other contender for the title. However, it must not be forgotten that both drivers can deduct their worst result of the year, which reduces the gap between them to only 6 points.
The Rallye Pozoblanco will start on Friday with the shakedown and the qualifying stage, and the opening ceremony will be held at 20:30. On Saturday 16th, seven timed sections will be held, totaling 98 kilometers. The longest stage of the rally is Stage C, with 15.67 kilometers. This event will be held entirely on gravel, a terrain on which Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada have already shown their speed, as was evidenced in the last RallyRACC, where they won on this surface with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.
Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “In the test day we have had a very good feeling with the car. As it was raining all day, we were able to test it on mud, which we hadn't been able to do before, and to be honest, I got used to it very well. The sensations are very positive and we are ready to fight for the victory in the rally”.
Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “I am very happy with how things turned out during the test day. The conditions were difficult, as it rained most of the day, but we managed to get a configuration that Alejandro feels comfortable with. The idea is to go for the win from the first stage. The team has been working on all the details and we have worked hard to get to the last race as leaders and having the possibility of depending on ourselves to win the title”.
